Physicals

The exam done properly and the form signed before you leave, whether it is an OSSAA sports form or an FMCSA medical certificate.

A healthcare worker uses a sphygmomanometer to check a patient's blood pressure in a medical office.
Sports, school, camp, pre-employment and DOT physicals, walk in.

How this works at QuickCare

A pre-participation physical is not a formality. Its job is to find the small number of conditions that make sport dangerous: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, uncontrolled asthma, an unresolved concussion, poorly controlled seizures, or a previous injury that has not rehabilitated.

We use the standard pre-participation evaluation format endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians, which means a 14-point cardiac history, an orthopaedic screen, vision testing and a review of the family history for sudden cardiac death under 50. Bring the completed parent history section; it is where most red flags are actually found.

DOT physicals follow a different rulebook entirely. We examine to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standard, our examiners are listed on the National Registry, and the MCSA-5876 medical examiner's certificate is issued in the same visit when you qualify.

  • Chest pain or fainting during exercise
  • A racing heartbeat that starts and stops abruptly
  • A family member who died suddenly and unexpectedly before age 50
  • A head injury with ongoing headache, fogginess or light sensitivity

QuickCare is an urgent care clinic. We do not treat life-threatening emergencies, and we will call an ambulance for you if you arrive with one.

Questions about physicals

The OSSAA or school form with the parent history section completed, a list of current medications, glasses or contacts, and any inhaler or EpiPen the athlete carries.

In Oklahoma a parent or guardian needs to consent for a minor. A signed consent form and a reachable phone number is usually enough if the parent cannot attend.

Most deferrals are temporary and specific: a blood pressure recheck, an echocardiogram, or an ankle that needs six weeks of rehabilitation. We write down exactly what has to happen for clearance.

No. A DOT exam certifies fitness to hold a commercial driver's licence under federal rules. It does not replace an annual wellness visit and does not cover screening or chronic disease management.

General information only, not medical advice. It cannot replace an examination, and it does not create a provider and patient relationship. If this is a medical emergency, call 911.
