What to expect at a QuickCare visit
Urgent care works best when nobody is guessing. Here is what to bring, what happens in what order, how billing works and who can see your record.
What to bring
Insurance card
We verify benefits at check-in and tell you the expected copay before you are seen.
Medication list
Names and doses. Bringing the bottles is better than a list from memory.
Pharmacy name and address
Prescriptions are sent electronically, usually before you reach the car park.
Immunisation record
For children, and for anyone here for a school, camp or employment requirement.
The completed form
Sports, school, camp, DOT or employer paperwork, with the history section already filled in.
How the visit runs
- 01Check inOnline or at the desk. Identification, insurance verification and the reason you came in your own words.
- 02TriageTemperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation. Anyone who looks unwell is brought back immediately, ahead of the queue.
- 03ProviderA physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner examines you and orders any testing or imaging.
- 04TestingRapid tests run in our lab and read here. X-ray taken and reviewed in the room at three of the four clinics.
- 05PlanDiagnosis, treatment started where appropriate, prescriptions sent, and a written plan with follow-up triggers.
- 06AfterRecords to your primary care provider on request, results by phone if abnormal, and a $59 recheck within 14 days.
Insurance and billing
Payment at the visitCopay or self-pay total is collected at check-in. Card, HSA, FSA and cash.
Itemised receiptWith CPT and diagnosis codes, for reimbursement or an out-of-network claim.
Facility feeNever charged. Urgent care here is billed as an office visit.
Separate lab billsReference laboratory send-outs may bill separately. We tell you which before the draw.
Radiologist over-readIncluded in the posted X-ray price. No separate professional fee.
Insurance participation on this demo site is illustrative. A live clinic would list its commercial contracts, Medicare and Medicaid participation, and any plans it is out of network with.
Records, results and prescriptions
Rapid results are given to you in the room and printed on your discharge summary. Send-out results post to the patient portal, and we phone you for anything abnormal, including a radiologist over-read that differs from what we told you at the visit.
Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy you name. We can provide a short bridge supply of most non-controlled maintenance medications while you get back in with your primary care provider. We do not start or refill controlled substances at an urgent care.
Ask for your own records in writing at any clinic and we provide them within the timescale HIPAA requires, normally within 30 days and usually far sooner. A visit summary goes to your primary care practice on request.
Privacy
QuickCare is a HIPAA covered entity. Protected health information is used and disclosed for treatment, payment and health care operations, and otherwise only with your authorisation or where the law requires. Our notice of privacy practices is summarised in the privacy policy, including your right to access, amend and restrict.
